The Sporthalle Berg Fidel holds around 3,000 to 3,300 people, a size that suits what actually happens inside it more than it would suit a title chase. VCO Münster plays there as the operating team for the Bundesstützpunkt Münster, the national training centre run jointly with the West German Volleyball Association, and the arrangement shapes everything about how the club competes. Under a special playing right, the team's results in league play carry no weight in promotion or relegation. Nobody at the training centre is chasing the top of a table; the hall exists to put young players through senior-level matches without the pressure of a division hanging on the outcome.

The club itself dates only to March 2017, entered into the Münster court register that May, and its purpose from the first season was development rather than silverware. It has moved between the 3. Liga West and the 2. Bundesliga Nord since, reaching the second tier for the first time in 2021/22, with mid-table finishes there marking its ceiling so far.

The clearer measure of the club's work is who has passed through it. Maya Sendner trained at VCO between 2019 and 2022 before moving on to VC Neuwied 77 and VC Osnabrück and into the German youth national set-up. Amelie Strothoff followed a similar path, joining in 2019 and stepping up to USC Münster for 2024/25 while representing Germany at youth level. That link to USC Münster runs deeper than individual transfers: dual registration sends players between the two clubs regularly, and when VCO meets USC Münster II, it is known locally as the Münster derby, contested with more edge than the teams' respective league positions would suggest.

None of it has produced a national title, and none was meant to. The players move on; the hall in Berg Fidel keeps filling with the next group sent through it.
