Home games are played in the gymnasium at the Schulzentrum Sundern, 425 seats.

Volleyball is not what RC Sorpesee was built for. It took until 1990 for a girls' volleyball department to appear. The women's team, now playing in the 2. Bundesliga North, is the face of RC Sorpesee far beyond Sundern.

The team plays under no animal or emblem-based nickname, just "Die Mädels vom Sorpesee" — the girls from Sorpesee — which is descriptive rather than invented, and has stuck for that reason. Matches against SSV Meschede carry a name of their own, the Sauerlandderby, and draw on a local rivalry that needs no further explanation in Sundern.

Kimberly Drewniok came through the club and went on to play for the German national team before leaving in 2014, the clearest sign of how far a Sauerland volleyball department can send a player.

425 seats: that is the ceiling on how many people can watch the girls from Sorpesee at home on any given night.
