The Đông Anh Gymnasium in Hanoi seats 2,650, and it is the place the Vietnam men's team calls its main venue, though not its only one. There is no single permanent home arena. The squad trains at the National Training Center in the capital and at facilities in Da Nang, and Đông Anh is where the matches are staged.

The team answers to the Volleyball Federation of Vietnam (VFV), set up in 1961. The men have appeared at the Asian Games since at least 1966 and have never won a medal there. Their record is regional, and it has been built against the same two opponents.

Against Thailand, that pattern broke in 2026. Vietnam beat them 3–2 in the final of the SEA V.Cup to take the title for the first time, after finishing runners-up in 2023 and 2025.

Several of the players behind that run were recognised individually at the 2025 SEA V.League. Trần Duy Tuyến was named best middle blocker and Nguyễn Ngọc Thuận best outside hitter. Before them came Trần Văn Thành, the veteran leader of the 1990s, who took bronze in 1995 and 1997.
