Viking TIF Women

Bergen's volleyball scene did not produce TIF Viking's women in a straight line. The thread starts with Nyborg Volleyballklubb, founded in the city on 14 May 1981, which in 1990 merged with Ulriken Volleyballklubb, a club that had already been playing in the elite league since 1984. The combined club carried on under those names through the following decades before taking over TIF Viking's volleyball licence in 2016 and adopting the name it plays under now. The women's side itself only reached elite level in the 2014/15 season, finishing third the following year — a modest start next to what came later.

That later stretch arrived all at once. In 2025 the team won the Norwegian Championship for the first time, beating ØKSIL 3-1 in the final, and added the Mizunoligaen title in the same year — the first league championship for a Bergen women's team since BSI managed it in 1987. The following year they added a third trophy, taking the Final Four playoff crown with a 2-1 win over Førde Volleyballklubb.

Home games are played at Åsane Arena, a hall built for volleyball and handball that opened in the early 2020s and holds 2,220 spectators — a modern venue for a club whose current form only recently caught up with it.
