Brindisi

Brindisi's current club began in a different town. New Basket Ceglie was founded in 1992 in Ceglie Messapica, and it stayed there until May 2004. Then the entrepreneur Massimo Ferrarese bought its sports title, moved the franchise to Brindisi and renamed it New Basket Brindisi. The city had lost its basketball earlier: Pallacanestro Brindisi (1977–1987) and Azzurra Brindisi (1987–2001) had both dissolved or sold their titles, and the new club is legally separate from either.

It kept their inheritance, though. The nickname "Stella del Sud" comes from the Pallacanestro side that played in Serie A1 in the early 1980s, and the white and blue are the city's colours.

The club won the LegaDue, the second tier, in 2009–10. In 2011–12 it took the Coppa Italia di Legadue and then the LegaDue playoffs, which brought promotion to Serie A. In Europe, the 2014–15 EuroChallenge run reached the quarter-finals. The Italian Cup gave the club two finals, in 2019 and 2020, and it lost both. After the 2022–23 season the club dropped back to Serie A2.

Matches against Ruvo di Puglia are billed as the "Derby di Puglia", and Dinamo Sassari is another opponent. The 3,534-seat PalaPentassuglia is named after Elio Pentassuglia.

The player Brindisi supporters know best is Adrian Banks, the club's all-time leading scorer.
