CAB Madeira Women

Carolina Bernardeco is the kind of name people at the Pavilhão do CAB use as shorthand for what the club produces, one of thirty who have worn the Portugal shirt. That pipeline is the real story of Clube Amigos do Basquete da Madeira's women's side, more than any single scoreline.

The team traces back to 1979 in Funchal, and by most tellings it has since become the most decorated women's side in Portuguese basketball, with 27 titles claimed across 36 years. The core of that record is six LFB Championships, won in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2006 — a run that made the club synonymous with the national league for most of a decade.
