Grindavik Women

When Ellert S. Magnússon took charge of Grindavík's women in 1997, he sent them past Keflavík in the semi-final without dropping a game, then swept KR three-nil in the final for the club's only Úrvalsdeild kvenna title. Grindavíkingar, as the town knows them, have measured themselves against that season ever since.

The section belongs to UMF Grindavík, the town's multi-sport club founded in 1946, and plays in yellow, blue and white. Two Icelandic Basketball Cups followed, in 2008 and 2015, then a Company Cup in 2001 and a second-tier crown, the 1. deild kvenna, in 2012.

Hulda Björk Ólafsdóttir carried the captaincy through recent seasons and was named Grindavík's Athlete of the Year in both 2022 and 2023. American guard Abby Beeman joined in 2024 and re-signed for 2025–2026.

For 2026 the club merged with neighbouring Njarðvík. The combined roster opened the season with three Americans: Vanderbilt graduates Hannah McLaughlin and Maci Teater, alongside Kierra Anthony.
