Valur Reykjavik Women

N1 höllin holds 1,300 seats and has carried three names: Vodafonehöllin, then Origo-höllin, now N1 höllin. The 2019 title came in the hall that then bore the Vodafone name.

The section belongs to the multi-sport club Knattspyrnufélagið Valur, formed on 11 May 1911. The women first played in the top flight, the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, in 1993–94. They left it after 1995–96 and were absent until 2007–08. In 2010–11 they dropped to the second division. That stretch matters because of what came after: the league titles arrived in 2019, 2021 and 2023.

The 2019 final was a 3-0 sweep of Keflavík. Heather Butler played for that side. In 2021 Valur beat Haukar by the same margin. In 2023 Keflavík took a game off them, and the series ended 3-1. Kiana Johnson was named Playoffs MVP, and she now also serves as an assistant coach.

The 2019–20 season was cancelled because of the pandemic. Valur finished it as league leaders, but no champion was named. The 2025–26 season brought a domestic treble: league, Cup and Super Cup.

The nearest rival is KR Reykjavik, and the meetings between them are called the Reykjavíkurslag. Haukar, Stjarnan and Keflavík also stand in the way. The section's own founding year is not recorded, and its history has no long unbroken run at the top. The 1990s and 2000s show how easily the place in the top flight was lost.
