Njardvik Women

Helga Jónasdóttir pulled down 27 rebounds in a single game in 2001. Njarðvík won the second division that year and the year before, in 2000 and 2001. They won it again in 2009, 2015 and 2021.

The top flight came in 2012. That season Njarðvík took the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the Icelandic championship, and the Bikarkeppni Kvenna, the national cup. A second league title followed in 2022, alongside a Supercup win over Haukar, 94–87. Haukar were the opponent again in 2025, when Njarðvík won the Supercup 86–83. That same year they beat Grindavík 81–74 to win the cup.

Haukar met them once more in the 2026 finals. Njarðvík won that series 3–1 and took the title for the third time.

That year the Keflavík Air Base sports association, Íþróttafélag Keflavíkurflugvallar, merged with Ungmennafélag Njarðvíkur, and its players became the club's basketball department. The rivalries come from the Reykjanes Peninsula, where Grindavík and Keflavík sit close by. Games against them are called the Suðurnesjaslagur, the Battle of the Sudurnes.

In October 2024 the team left the old Ljónagryfjan for IceMar-höllin, which seats about 930 for basketball.

Not every name in the recent squads arrived from abroad. Rannveig Randversdóttir played in the club's under-18 teams before she appeared on the list of the club's notable players.
