Tindastoll Women

The basketball section grew out of Ungmennafélagið Tindastóll, a multi-sport club founded in 1907, and the women's team plays in yellow and black under the nickname Tindastólsstelpur. Their record in the top flight, the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, is thin — no national title, no cup — and their honours sit a level down, in the 1. deild kvenna, where they finished first in 1998 and 1999. The team spent time outside the top division before working its way back in 2024.

Games against Þór/KA, the club from Akureyri, are known locally as the norðurlandaslagur, the northern clash, a fixture shaped by geography as much as by the standings. On the current roster, Oumoul Khairy Sarr Coulibaly has carried much of the scoring load, part of a squad that also includes Brynja Líf Júlíusdóttir.

A crowd of 700 in that hall is not a big number by any league's standards — it is a large fraction of a small town.
