KK Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik's basketball identity has little to do with the coast the city sells to tourists; it runs through Gospino Polje, where the Sports Hall seats around 1,500. KK Dubrovnik has spent its history as a supplier rather than a collector.

Mario Hezonja left for the NBA after coming through here. Ante Tomić built an ACB and EuroLeague career on foundations laid at Gospino Polje. Andro Knego won a EuroLeague title with Cibona and Olympic gold with Yugoslavia after starting in the same colours.

Two Second Division titles, in 1994–95 and 1997–98, and a Croatian Cup final lost in 2005–06.

The fixtures that matter most are not against the clubs level with Dubrovnik in the table. A trip to Zagreb to face Cibona is billed locally as the Zagreb–Dubrovnik derby, and the meetings with Zadar carry enough weight in the playoffs to be called the Big Derby, even without a fixed name to match the football rivalry along the same coast.
