Kvarner

The club he played for no longer exists under the name he knew — the original KK Kvarner, which had carried sponsor names like Istravino, Croatia Line and Sava Osiguranje through the years, ran up debts, dropped into the second tier and folded in 2009. A year later two Rijeka clubs, Torpedo and Jadran, merged to put the city back in the top flight, and the new entity kept the old name: KK Kvarner 2010.

The team it replaced had reached the final of the Yugoslav Cup twice, in 1976–77 and 1980–81, and gone as far as the quarterfinals of the Saporta Cup in 1977–78. Its best Croatian league finishes came in the early 2000s, third place in 2000–01 and fourth the year after. Franjo Arapović, who won bronze with Croatia at EuroBasket 1995, played for the club, and Aramis Naglić took Olympic silver in 1992 while associated with it.

None of that history belonged to the merged club when it started over in the A2 League. It won that league at the first attempt, in 2009–10, and went straight back up to the top division. Games since have been played at Dvorana Dinko Lukarić on Trg Viktora Bubnja, a hall known locally as Dvorana Mladosti.

The hall seats 1,100.
