Liege Women

Herve-Battice is the fixture that matters most to Liège Panthers: the nearest thing the club has to a local derby.

The Panthers exist because another club stopped. In 2014 Point Chaud Basket Sprimont ceased its national activities, and a new entity, ASBL Liège Panthers, took its place in the Belgian Top Division Women. Pierre Cornia, who had coached Sprimont, stayed on as head coach for a long stretch. The colours became black and pink, and the nickname Les Panthères.

The city's basketball history invites confusion, and the club is careful to keep clear of it. Standard BC de Liège, whose women's section won the Belgian Cup in 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1967 and 1968, was dissolved in 1985. The men's Liège Basket folded in 2024. The Panthers are a separate association, and they are not part of the Royal Standard de Liège multi-sport club. They have won neither the league nor the cup since 2014.

They play in the Salle du Bois Saint-Jean, a 1,000-capacity hall in Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse. It stands beside the far larger Country Hall Ethias Liège.

Their best run abroad was the qualifying round of the EuroCup Women in 2021/22. In 2024-25 the Belgian Cup ended for them in the round of 16, against Willebroek.
