Kangoeroes Mechelen Women

In March 2024 Kangoeroes Mechelen beat Castors Braine in the Belgian Cup final and won the trophy for the third year running. Braine were a regular opponent in both cup and league, and they got their answer a year later: they won the 2024–25 final. By then the cup run had a companion. The women also won the Top Division Women in 2022, 2023 and 2024, so both trophies stayed in Mechelen for three seasons.

Those years also took the team into Europe. It played the group stages of the EuroCup Women in 2023–24 and 2024–25, and it has been in the EuroLeague Women as well, without winning a European title. The national team gave the club its most decorated name in Laure Résimont, who was part of Belgium's EuroBasket Women champion side in 2023 and took part in the 2024 Olympics.

The home floor has been less settled than the trophy cabinet. The team left Sporthal Winketkaai, which holds 1,000, because of problems with the building. It now plays at Sporthal De Nekker, which is being renovated for the team. The men's side, which shares the nickname De Maneblussers, "The Firefighters", won the BNXT League in 2024–25.

None of this was in place in 2009, when BBC Kangoeroes Willebroek and Boom BBC merged. For the first four years the club played as BBC Kangoeroes Boom, and it did not move to Mechelen until 2018. The women's team was there from the first season. It won the Belgian Second Division in 2010–11, two seasons into that merger.
