Phantoms Women

Philip Wolk is the coach who now works out of Braxhall, a 600-seat hall on Kapelstraat in Boom. Sven Van Assche runs the club off the court.

Phantoms Boom was founded in 2015 to carry on the basketball tradition of the town. Four years later the women won the third-tier 1e Landelijke, which took them up into the Top Division Women. They did not spend long finding their feet there. In 2020 they reached the Belgian Cup final and lost it to Castors Braine.

In 2025 the team returned to a final, this time in the Beker van Vlaanderen, and beat BC Cobras Schoten-Brasschaat.

Shalaunda Burney-Robinson is the best-known player to have worn the shirt. The club has also produced young players for the Belgian national side, the Belgian Cats. Zhen Verburgt, Habibatou Bah and Sophie Van Hoof have all been called up.

Locally, the match that draws the most attention is against Kangoeroes Mechelen. The two towns sit close together, and the fixture has a reputation as a spicy regional derby. Boom's supporters know their team as De Steenbakkers, the Bricklayers. Mechelen's are De Maneblussers, the Firefighters.

This season the club is in the EuroCup Women.
