NE Megaridas

N.E.M. sit in the Greek A2 league, the country's second tier. There is no record of a championship or a cup run along the way.

It began in 1974, when Alkiviadis Benardis put the section together, and the Hellenic Basketball Federation recognised it in January 1976. Four seasons later, in 1979-1980, the team took the floor in the federation's official championship for the first time — the first side from the town to do so.

Games are played at the NEM BC Arena. Blue and white are the club's colours, and beyond the shorthand N.E.M. — sometimes softened to Megarida — no nickname has stuck. A women's basketball section runs alongside the men's team, and the club also fields a table tennis section, though it is the basketball side that carries the club's name furthest, including into meetings with AONS Milonas of Athens.

The name attached most firmly to the club remains Alkiviadis Benardis, the man who founded it in 1974 and, in doing so, gave Megara a basketball team of its own for the first time.
