David Berlin was still a young coach in Noginsk in 1949 when he put together the team that would carry the town's name in Soviet women's basketball. He stayed with it for more than seventy years, and did not step away until his death in 2021.

Under him Spartak reached the top of the Soviet game. The USSR Championship came once, in 1978, against Riga's TTT, framed by seven silver medals and three bronze finishes across the 1960s, '70s and early '80s. A USSR Cup followed in 1973, and in Europe the club found the win column more often: four Liliana Ronchetti Cups, taken in 1976, 1977, 1981 and 1982.

Those teams sent players through to Olympic gold, among them Nelli Feryabnikova and Olga Sukharova. It now plays at the Znamya Sports Complex.
