Promo DV enter the 2025-2026 campaign in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Championship under a new head coach, Dženan Rahimić, a former professional player now guiding the club he once played for. The squad still carries an outside accent through Prince Oriza, who joined in 2024, following the path an American, Ervin Carlbe Lee from Oklahoma, opened when he arrived for the 2019-20 season.

That promotion followed a run through categories the club has carried since students and professors Muris Ćemer and Muhamed Vajzović put a team together in 1979, when it played its first season as KK Radnik in the regional league at Zenica. The Bosnian War forced a break in continuity that the club marked by taking the name KK Donji Vakuf in 1996, and a spell as Donji Vakuf Komar Gips between 2009 and 2011 gave way to the sponsored name Promo carries today.

Winning the second-tier Bosnian A1 League in 2018-19 remains the club's defining result, the promotion it earned still shaping where Promo plays now. Home games go ahead at the Donji Vakuf Sports Hall, opened on Statehood Day in 2016 and holding 800 people, a building the town paid roughly 2.5 million convertible marks to raise.

None of that carries the weight of the games against KK Iskra Bugojno. The two towns sit close enough that the fixture needs no introduction locally — Komšijski derbi, the neighbourhood derby — and for Promo it stands apart from anything else on the schedule.
