Marikina built its name on shoes, and the city has never let the nickname go — Shoemasters. In 2025 a jewellery firm, Verdiamonds, bought the franchise and put its own name on the jersey for a stretch of the season before the team reverted to Shoemasters by season's end.

None of the rebrands has come with a trophy. The team has reached the MPBL playoffs twice, in 2022 and 2023, and gone out in the first round both times.

Home games are played at the Marikina Sports Center, whose gymnasium holds 7,000 for basketball inside a wider sports complex built for 15,000.
