Södertälje Kings

Twelve Swedish championships sit in Södertälje's history, and the run through the 2010s — titles in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 — established the club's dominance in the country's basketball. Norrköping Dolphins pushed them hardest in that stretch; the 2013–14 final went the full seven games before Södertälje closed it out 4–3.

None of that was guaranteed at the start. The club exists because the YMCA's basketball section folded under financial strain in 1968, and a group of players around Benny Johansson refused to let the sport in the city disappear with it — SBBK was their answer, formed that July. The men's side later traded on the Kings name from 1995 to widen its commercial reach, and though the club returned to Södertälje BBK on paper in 2020, Kings never really left everyday speech.

Before Täljehallen, the team played at Scaniarinken, and it was there, in 1977, that 6,414 people packed in for a game — a number the club's current 2,000-seat home has no way of matching.

Individual seasons have carried their own faces: Toni Bizaca took MVP honours in back-to-back years before adding Finals MVP in 2014, part of the spine that carried the club through its most recent championship stretch. The supporters gather under the name The King, still watching a team that has never quite matched that domestic dominance in the Swedish Cup, where finals have come without a trophy to show for them.
