KFUM Borås put a basketball section together in 1952. The line that runs from it to today's Borås Basket is not straight: in 1991 Marbo Basket merged with the original club to form M7 Borås.

M7 Borås lost the Swedish Championship final twice, in 1997 and 2000, both times to Plannja Basket. Between those two finals the club took on a name few Swedish teams have carried: for the 1999–2000 season it played as Magic M7 Borås, sponsored by Magic Johnson, who turned out for five games himself.

Borås Basket rebuilt from that collapse and worked its way back to the Basketligan in 2007. Borås has since returned to the final twice, in 2019 against Södertälje Kings and in 2023 against Norrköping Dolphins, losing both.
