Uppsala

Its basketball club began the same way: two students, Kari Marklund and Jan-Anders Ericsson, put a team together in 1960 under the name KFUM Uppsala. What followed the founding was a long search for identity — through the 1980s and 1990s the club played under a string of sponsor names, from Arapts Basket to Mazda Basket to Fyrishov Gators, before settling back on Uppsala Basket in 2007.

The men's team has come closest to a national title twice without ever crossing the line: runners-up in 1978–79, then again in 2014–15, when Södertälje BBK denied them. Between those two finals lay a harder test. In April 2019 the men's side folded outright, a casualty of relegation and the finances that came with it. The club rebuilt from that position and returned to Basketligan in 2022 after winning Superettan, the second tier, the year before.

The women's team has had its own run, taking the Basketettan title in 2016 and settling into the top-flight Basketligan Dam.

The men now play out of Fyrishov, a hall holding around 2,500 to 3,000, while the women's games are held at Rosendalshallen, a smaller ground that seats 800 — two venues, one city, still tied to the club two students started building in 1960.
