BC Luleå

The Norrländskt derby against Jämtland Basket.

The club began as the basketball section of Gammelstads IF, and it was Plannja AB's sponsorship that turned it into Plannja Basket and set off the club's most productive period. The first Swedish championship came in 1997, and six more followed between 1999 and 2007, a run that made the team the country's dominant side of that era. When Länsförsäkringar Norrbotten took over as main sponsor in 2010, the club became LF Basket and swapped its green and white for blue and red. The name settled into BC Luleå for the 2015/2016 season, a deliberate move away from a sponsor's name toward the city's own.

Supporters call the team Carnis kanoner, a nickname built on a pun on the surname of club physiotherapist Rickard Carnerud. Jonas Jerebko passed through the club in 2006–2007 before his NBA career began, while the championship years are remembered through players like Eric Elliott, Dennis Aulander, John Rosendahl and Håkan Larsson, whose numbers hang retired from those title runs.

Games are played at the Luleå Energi Arena, holding 2,500 for basketball. The eighth championship arrived in 2017, but it closed out a gap of ten years since the previous one.
