Vasas Csata Women

Ludovika-FCSM Csata carries a promotion into the current season as its main credential: the 2018 NB I/B title that put the club back among Hungary's top flight after years in the second tier. The best it has managed there since is seventh place, in 2018-19, and the club has yet to reach an NB I/A championship. In 2021-22 it stepped outside domestic competition altogether, beating A3 Basket Umeå in the EuroCup Women qualifiers.

The name on the shirt has changed almost as often as the address. What began in 2006 as MKB Euroleasing Vasas Csata, a joint project between Vasas SC and a youth programme run at the Csata utca facility since the mid-1990s, split off after 2011 to become Csata DSE. A partnership with the National University of Public Service turned it into NKE-Csata in 2018, and since 2020 it has played as Ludovika-FCSM Csata, with the Romanian insurer FCSM sponsoring the shirt. Through every rebrand, the nickname stuck: Csata, Hungarian for "battle," a name the club had already earned on the court before the university ever put its own on the letterhead.

Red and blue, colours borrowed from Vasas SC, remain the constant. The team now plays at the Ludovika Arena in Budapest, a ground with 1,320 seats, having moved on from the Vasas Pasaréti Sportcentrum. Matches against ELTE BEAC Újbuda or TFSE-MTK still draw the label "Fővárosi csata," a capital battle in more than name.

Bernadett Horváth's name comes up more than most when the club's history is discussed, one of several players who passed through Csata on the way to the Hungarian national team.
