Szigetszentmiklos Women

In the 2020-21 season, a women's team run by a school sports association won the Hungarian second division, NB I/B, and stepped into the top flight. The association, the Batthyány Kázmér Gimnázium Diáksport Egyesület (BKG DSE), belongs to a secondary school in Szigetszentmiklós.

The association had set up the women's side in 2010. The step up to the Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A (NB I/A), the top tier, changed what the season was for. Since promotion the team has usually finished between ninth and eleventh in the regular season. Survival has often had to be settled in the play-out, where a lower-table side cannot afford another slip.

The fixtures that draw attention are the ones against Sopron, known as the Darazsak (Wasps), and against Vasas. Hungarian basketball calls such games a "rangadó", an important match, and no named derby sits behind them.

Supporters call the team the Bikák, the Bulls, and sometimes "Batyisok", a shortening of the school's name. The colours are blue and white. Home games are played at the Szigetszentmiklós Városi Sportcsarnok, the city sports hall, which holds 150 people.
