The team traces its competitive lineage back to 1975, when sides under the names Szekszárd Vasas Sport Kör and Szekszárdi Dózsa were already playing in Hungary's top flight; the club took its current shape in February 1988 as Kosárlabda Sport Club Szekszárd. It plays now as Tarr KSC Szekszárd, known locally as Kék-fehérek, the Blue-Whites, colours the team has kept through its various sponsor names.

The one national trophy the club can point to came in 2018, a Hungarian Cup final won 66–64 against Sopron Basket. Réka Bálint's number 13 hangs retired at the Szekszárd Városi Sportcsarnok, a hall that holds 1,100 and has watched forwards like Ruthy Hebard and Kathryn Westbeld pass through more recently.
