Osman Bukari

Osman Bukari's best-remembered moment came in the 90th minute against Portugal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, when he scored and celebrated by mimicking Cristiano Ronaldo's trademark leap.

The midfielder started out at Accra Lions before a brief loan spell at RSC Anderlecht took him to Europe. He settled in Slovakia with AS Trenčín, where he made 51 league appearances and scored 12 goals. He was selected for the Slovak SuperLiga Team of the Season for 2019–20. He moved to KAA Gent in Belgium, and a loan at FC Nantes in 2021–22 saw him make 24 Ligue 1 appearances and score two goals.

His move to Red Star Belgrade in 2022 marked a productive spell of his career. Bukari scored 19 goals in 56 league appearances across two seasons, including one against Manchester City in the Champions League, and won the Serbian SuperLiga and Cup double in both 2022–23 and 2023–24. He was named Serbian SuperLiga Player of the Month in April 2023.

He joined Austin FC in Major League Soccer in 2024, where he made 42 league appearances as a Designated Player, before a move to Widzew Łódź in Poland for a record Ekstraklasa fee.

For Ghana, Bukari made his senior debut in March 2021 and has scored in AFCON qualifying against Madagascar and in a friendly against Angola, alongside his World Cup strike against Portugal. He was part of the squad at both the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, featuring in the match against Egypt.
