CONCACAF Gold Cup - Women 2024/25

The CONCACAF W Gold Cup is the premier women’s international football tournament for the North, Central American and Caribbean region. Officially announced in December 2020, the inaugural edition took place in 2024. This competition replaces the long-standing CONCACAF W Championship, which operated from 1991 until 2022. The United States won the first title by beating Brazil 1–0 in the final. The 2024 tournament featured twelve teams. Eight sides came from CONCACAF nations, while four invited guests arrived from CONMEBOL: Argentina, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic and Mexico. The structure began with a preliminary round for lower-ranked participants. After that stage, teams moved into a group phase consisting of three groups of four. The top two sides from each group, along with the two best third-place finishers, progressed to a single-leg knockout stage. This knockout phase included quarterfinals, semifinals and the final. The competition sits separately from the CONCACAF W Nations League. That league acts as the qualifying route for both this Gold Cup and major global events like the World Cup and the Olympic Games. Historically, the predecessor tournament was dominated by the United States, who claimed nine titles between 1991 and 2022. The next edition of the new Gold Cup is scheduled for 2029.
