BCM Lučenec secured a narrow victory over Komarno, winning 88 to 86 in the Extraliga on Saturday evening. The result moves the visitors up to seventh place, while the hosts remain in eighth position after five matches. We had tipped Komarno at 61 per cent confidence ahead of the game, and here's the thing — the match simply refused to follow that script.

Komarno shot 31 from 76 field-goal attempts and connected on six three-pointers from 26 attempts. Lučenec managed fewer shots overall at 28 from 56, but their efficiency from distance proved decisive with ten successful three-pointers. The home side also dominated the boards with 26 rebounds compared to the visitors' 37, yet it made little difference in the end.

Both teams recorded fourteen assists, though Lučenec's control of the glass — twenty-eight defensive rebounds against fifteen — kept them in the contest. Komarno committed more personal fouls at twenty-three to nineteen, and their fourteen turnovers matched the visitors' output despite fewer possessions.

By then the game had settled into something familiar for this division. Komarno had lost four of their five matches, including a defeat to Levíče on Wednesday, while Lučenec were finding their feet after a heavy 97-point loss to Piešťany ČEZ back in September.

To be fair, the prediction wasn't entirely wrong about Komarno's potential. They beat Handlová 89 to 75 on October tenth, and had the game won inside twenty minutes of the final quarter, the outcome might have looked different. Instead, Lučenec ended a barren spell and took a crucial point in the standings.
