Boca Unidos made light work of Sarmiento Resistencia on Saturday evening, securing a comfortable 3-0 victory in the Losers Stage of Torneo Federal A. The away side took control early and never looked back, with goals from A. Alfano, K. Fernandez and E. Gonzalez booking their passage through the knockout rounds.
Alfano cracked the deadlock in the 40th minute, timing his finish to perfection before the interval. Fernandez doubled the lead shortly after the break in the 64th, and Gonzalez added a third in stoppage time to put the result beyond doubt. To be fair, the visitors had plenty of quality on show.
Sarmiento's evening went from bad to worse when they were reduced to ten men in the 86th minute after a straight red card. The home side had already collected a yellow card in the 49th, and then picked up another in the 87th before Gonzalez's goal. By then, the game was effectively over.
Despite enjoying 57 percent possession, Sarmiento could only muster seven shots on target compared to Boca Unidos's six. The home side registered 120 attacks against 124 for the visitors, but possession meant little when the away team were more clinical in front of goal.
Boca Unidos sit second in the table on 11 points from five games, while Sarmiento languish in seventh with just six points from six matches. The result extends the visitors' unbeaten run and leaves the hosts with plenty of questions to answer before their next outing.
