The club has worn white and sky-blue stripes since it was founded in 1921, and it still plays out of Villa Alem, the district that gave it the name supporters and the local press actually use: Rojo de Villa Alem. Home games are played at the Estadio Club Tucumán Central, which holds 4,500.

Promotion into the top flight of the Liga Tucumana in 2023 set up the two seasons that changed the club. In 2025, Tucumán Central won the Torneo Anual de la Liga Tucumana, beating Concepción FC 1-0 in the final. A year later it went further, lifting the Torneo Regional Federal Amateur after beating General Paz Juniors on penalties, 4-3, following a 1-1 draw — the result that sent it up into the Torneo Federal A.

Bruno Medina carried much of that run, finishing as top scorer with 53 goals before leaving for All Boys. It was Felipe Estrada who kept his head to take the penalty that beat General Paz Juniors and settled the final.

Tucumán Central now plays in the Torneo Federal A, the third tier of Argentine football.
