About the player
The final of the 2016 Copa Bicentenario turned on Brian Montenegro. Playing on loan at Lanús from Nacional, he scored the winning goal against Racing Club.
He was top scorer of the Paraguayan Primera División Torneo Apertura with Nacional , then made 12 league appearances in the Lanús side that won the Argentine Primera División Torneo Clausura without adding a goal to the campaign.
He joined West Ham United on loan in August 2011 and was part of the squad promoted to the Premier League in 2012, though he did not appear in the play-off final.
His longest association began in February 2017, when Olimpia acquired 50% of his economic rights. He returned to Olimpia permanently that June.
His club goals now number more than 120. After a season at Aucas in Ecuador, his contract expired and he signed for Defensor Sporting on a free transfer in January 2026, on terms running to the end of that year.
