Leganés signed him on loan in August 2015 and bought the contract for €1m the following June. Two years and 111 matches later, Benfica paid around €9.6m for him.

He came through the Vasco da Gama academy between 2008 and 2011, but signed his first professional contract at Resende in July 2010, playing 14 matches and scoring once in the Campeonato Carioca in 2011. Juventus took him that July. He never played for the first team there, turning out for the Primavera side and then moving almost continuously on loan — Pro Vercelli, Spezia, Pescara, Livorno.

At Benfica he made 100 appearances, scoring five and assisting six, and won the Primeira Liga in 2018/19 and the Portuguese Super Cup in 2019. He spent 2021/22 on loan at Al-Gharafa in Qatar and 2022/23 at Botafogo, where he won the Taça Rio.

He terminated the Benfica contract in January 2024 and joined Fluminense, winning the Recopa Sudamericana that year but playing only eight matches before that deal was also terminated in December. A spell at Panserraikos in Greece lasted from January to June 2025, and in October he signed for Portuguesa. Mirassol paid $250,000 for him in February 2026; he played six matches across the Brazilian Série A and the Copa Libertadores before joining Juventude in July.
