Guillermo Gabriel de los Santos Viana

Guillermo de los Santos has won the Copa AUF Uruguay twice with Defensor Sporting, in 2023 and in 2024. Both came in his second spell at the club, which began in January 2023 on a free transfer.

He started his senior career at Club Atlético Cerro, where he played from 2011 to 2013. The move to Club Nacional de Football in 2013 brought him the most decorated two years of his career: the Torneo Apertura in 2014 and the Campeonato Uruguayo in the 2014–15 season. He left Nacional in July 2015 and joined Defensor Sporting as a free agent, and in 2017 he added the Torneo Apertura with them.

He arrived at Club Deportivo de la Universidad Católica on loan in 2017, and the club made the move permanent in July 2018; he stayed until 2021. In January 2022 he moved to Brazil, joining Coritiba Foot Ball Club, again on a free transfer, before returning to Montevideo a year later.

His international football belongs to the youth sides. He played for Uruguay at the 2009 South American U-20 Championship and at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and represented the U-22 team at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, where Uruguay finished third. The step up did not follow: he has never been capped by the senior national team.

He has spent his career either side of two long stays — the Chilean years and the two separate periods at Defensor Sporting, where the trophies of the last two seasons have come.
