About the player
Juan Manuel Jorge came through the Defensor Sporting youth system and made his professional debut for the club on 7 September 2022, in the Copa Uruguay. The years that followed set the shape of his career so far: a squad member for a side that kept winning the Copa Uruguay — in 2022, in 2023 and again in 2024 — while his own minutes came in fits and starts.
He spent those seasons moving between the first team and the club's youth ranks, turning out for the Sub-19 and in the Tercera División. The 2024 final against Nacional, on 6 December, captured the position neatly: Jorge was named among the substitutes and did not come on.
The move that followed was about playing time. In the second half of 2025 he joined Central Español on loan, dropping down to the Segunda División, where he made eight league appearances and one in the Copa Uruguay. No fee was reported. Central Español finished second in the division and went up.
Left-footed and used in midfield, Jorge has yet to record an individual award.
