Juninho Capixaba

Juninho Capixaba came through the Bahia academy and made his mark there before a January 2018 move to Corinthians, where he won the Campeonato Paulista in his first year. Grêmio signed him on loan that summer and made the deal permanent in 2019, though he spent much of his time in the south of Brazil out on loan elsewhere, first back at Bahia and then at Fortaleza, where he added a Copa do Nordeste and a Campeonato Cearense to his collection.

He joined RB Bragantino in 2022 and has built the most productive spell of his career there, becoming a regular fixture in the side and picking up back-to-back Campeonato Paulista Team of the Year selections in 2023 and 2024. One goal from that period stands out: his strike against Botafogo in the Copa Libertadores in March 2024, in a match that took Bragantino close to a knockout-round spot. He struck again against Criciúma in December of that year.

Injuries have interrupted his recent seasons, including a calf problem and a knee injury that kept him out for several months through the middle of 2024, followed by further spells out with hip and knee issues in 2025. Off the pitch, his form has drawn interest from elsewhere in Brazilian football: Palmeiras had an approach turned down in April 2025, Flamengo made an enquiry in December 2023, and Atlético-MG opened talks in January 2026 before he settled his future by staying at Bragantino.

Despite the transfer speculation, Juninho Capixaba has never been called up by the Brazil national team, and his career has instead been built entirely at club level, from his early years in Bahia to his current standing as one of Bragantino's most established defenders.
