Lucas Paul de los Santos Ruiz Díaz

The first trophy in the history of the Copa AUF Uruguay went to Defensor Sporting in 2022, and Lucas de los Santos played every minute of the final. He started against La Luz and stayed on for the full ninety in a 1–0 win.

De los Santos made his first-team debut on 5 October 2021, in the Segunda División, in a season that ended with the title and promotion. His top-flight debut followed on 5 February 2022, against Liverpool. Across his first spell at the club, between 2021 and 2023, he made 61 league appearances. At the end of the 2022 season the AUF named him as a substitute in its end-of-season list; he took no individual award.

He had come to Montevideo from Paysandú as a boy and went through the Defensor Sporting youth system — there is no record of him at any other club before it.

The move abroad came in September 2023, when Club Puebla paid $500,000 for 80% of his sporting rights. In Liga MX he played 12 times for the first team. The following year he was loaned down a division, to Celaya in the Liga de Expansión MX, and there he was a regular: 35 appearances and one goal before the loan ran out in 2025.

De los Santos went back to the club that raised him. He is a defensive midfielder and works off his right foot.
