«Afturelding»
Myntkaup höllin sits inside the Varmá Sports Centre in Mosfellsbær, and it is there that Afturelding's women have built a decade of finals. The hall belongs to the wider sports centre rather than to the volleyball section alone.
That structure goes back to 11 April 1909, when Ungmennafélagið Afturelding was formed as a general youth and sport association; the volleyball section is one branch of a club whose colours, red and black, cover several disciplines at once.
Thelma Dögg Grétarsdóttir has carried much of that later era, named Best Player of the Icelandic Cup in 2024 and Mosfellsbær's Athlete of the Year in 2022; she also won the Icelandic Beach Volleyball Championship with Hjördis Eiríksdóttir.
