Atletico Torres U20

Spanish football exports are not unusual, but a branch office is: Club Atlético Torres in Recife carries the name of a small club from Torres de la Alameda, near Madrid, under the management of GO Sports Gestão Esportiva. The date on the paperwork is 19 May 2022, which makes the nickname the club has taken for itself less a boast than a plain statement — "O caçula do futebol brasileiro," the youngest of Brazilian football.

It plays in blue and yellow, the bull as its mascot, and it has no ground to call its own. Home matches go to the Arena de Pernambuco in São Lourenço da Mata, a 45,000-seat stadium that has since become a landlord to newcomers with no ground of their own to offer, and on other occasions to the smaller Estádio Municipal Grito da República in Olinda.

The senior side takes its place in the Campeonato Pernambucano Série A2, while the under-20 side plays in the equivalent youth competition. There, in 2023, Atlético Torres finished sixth — a modest line, but the only result of note the club has produced since it was founded.

No title sits in the cabinet yet, and none of the state's traditional rivalries in Recife has extended itself to include a club still finding its feet.
