Central SC U20

The furthest Central Sport Club ever went in Brazilian football came in 1986, when the side from Caruaru took the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B , earning promotion alongside the other group winners that year.

Locally the record runs longer: the Campeonato Pernambucano Série A2 twice, in 1999 and again in 2022, the Copa Pernambuco in 2001, and a run of three straight Torneio Incentivo titles through the mid-1970s. The club took its name from the Estrada de Ferro Central, the railway line that once carried goods and passengers from the coast into the Agreste hinterland through Caruaru, and that history sits behind the black-and-white colours and the nickname Patativa do Agreste, after the black-and-white bird native to the region.

Matches against Clube Atlético do Porto carry their own weight in the city — the Clássico Matuto, also known as the Clássico Mestre Vitalino, is the fixture where form and table go out of the window.

Further back, in 1951, Milton scored 11 goals in a single match as Central won 23–0.
