Chapulineros

Chapulineros have folded twice and rebuilt three times. The first came out of a university side, when the Benito Juárez Autonomous University of Oaxaca entered its football team in the Segunda División 'B' in 1982; two years later the university bought the Pumas ENEP franchise outright and called it Chapulineros de Oaxaca. Affiliated to Toros Neza, run for a spell by a regional university, sold to Grupo Pegaso in 2001 as the revived Lobos UAP, then packed off to Tlaxcala in 2003 to become Guerreros de Tlaxcala.

It came back in 2015, when the MRCI group bought a franchise from Huixquilucan and moved it into the city under the old name. Then found its level a year later outside the federation altogether, in the semi-professional Liga de Balompié Mexicano. When the LBM itself dissolved in January 2025, the club returned to the Liga Premier de México that June — back inside the structure it had first left as a university team over four decades earlier.
