Inter Playa del Carmen

In 2021 Inter Playa del Carmen reached a Liga Premier Apertura final for the first time in its history and came away with nothing, beaten by Alacranes de Durango. On 13 March 2023 they beat Club Calor to lift the Copa Conecta, then reached the Clausura final that same year and again finished second.

Businessmen from Playa del Carmen sat down with the municipal government in 1999 and built a club from that partnership, one that marked 23 years in the game in August 2022. Promotion arrived in 2003, when the club won the Tercera División's Clausura tournament and moved up into what is now the Liga Premier, and it has stayed in professional football since.

Locally the team is known as El Inter, and also as Marea Azul, a nickname the navy blue and turquoise kit earns on its own.
