H2o Purepechas

Morelia is a Liga MX city. Purépechas F.C. sits well below that, on a different foundation altogether: the club grew out of Club Deportivo H2O, an amateur side run by the city's own water and sewerage utility, OOAPAS. In August 2021, weeks after registering, that works team was folded into a formal agreement with Axen Capital and Atlético Morelia and entered the Liga TDP, Mexico's fourth tier, as H2O Purépechas F.C.

That arrangement held until September 2024, when Atlético Morelia set up its own reserve side through Universidad Michoacana and Purépechas were cut loose to run independently. The undefeated Group 11 campaign that preceded it, in 2023, gave some indication the side could compete without the parent club's backing: eight wins, three draws, no losses. A run to the Liga TDP national stage followed in the 2024 Copa Conecta, where the club beat Aguacateros CDU and edged past Petroleros de Salamanca on penalties before Diablos Tesistán ended the run in the quarter-finals.

Independence was followed by promotion of a different kind: in August 2026 the club bought its way into the Primera Premier, the third tier, taking the league spot vacated by Halcones F.C., and dropped the "H2O" from its name in the process. Home games are played at Estadio Olímpico Venustiano Carranza in blue and white.

Capacity there stands at 17,600.
