Delfines Coatzacoalcos

Coatzacoalcos, a refinery port on the Veracruz coast, needed a side of its own in the lower reaches of Mexican football, and in 1997 that project took shape as Delfines de Coatzacoalcos, built on a franchise lineage some trace back to Lagartos de Tabasco.

They found it in 2003, winning the Segunda División and then the Campeón de Campeones against Deportivo Tepic, a run that carried the club into the Primera División 'A'. The reserve side matched the feat two years later, beating Pumas Naucalpan 5–4 on penalties to take the Apertura 2005 Segunda División title.

The success did not last. In 2006 the franchise was sold and turned into Guerreros de Tabasco, which lasted one season in the Primera 'A' before being sold on again and remade as Club Tijuana. Delfines de Coatzacoalcos stopped existing at that point.

It took until 23 July 2024 for the name to return, when the club was refounded and entered the Liga TDP. Cañoneros Marina remain the club's main rival in the city.

Home games are now played in front of a crowd capped at 4,800 , at the Estadio Rafael Hernández Ochoa.
