Guerreros Del Pacifico

For 38 years the franchise now playing in Acapulco belonged to Chilpancingo, the state capital of Guerrero, where it was known as Avispones. Its history there ended when the licence moved to the coast. Guerreros del Pacífico did not inherit that past. It replaced it.

The name reaches further back than the franchise. "Guerreros de Acapulco" was an older local identity, and the new club took it up while adding the ocean to it. Acapulco's more recent lower-division sides, Cuatetes de Acapulco (2016–2018) and Acapulco F.C. (2020), have no connection to it.

The club was presented on 28 May 2026 and made its debut in the Liga Premier Serie A, the third tier of Mexican football, in September. José Andrés Ríos Ortega holds two posts, president and sporting director. Arturo Juárez is the head coach. Two Colombians, the midfielder Yefersson Quiroga and the forward Yerson Rivas, are among the players who started the first season, alongside the goalkeeper Héctor Ordáz.

Home games are played at the Unidad Deportiva Acapulco, a sports complex whose football and athletics stadium holds 13,000. The shirt is striped in blue and yellow, with blue shorts and socks. The away strip reverses the stripes and adds yellow socks. Ríos Ortega's management has said it wants to build a youth development platform, though the club is too new to have produced a graduate.

All of it followed from an announcement on 27 April 2026: the Avispones de Chilpancingo franchise would relocate to Acapulco.
