Cañoneros Marina

The Mexican Navy set up its own football side in Milpa Alta in 2012, and for nearly a decade the Secretaría de Marina paid the bills, which is where the club's nickname, La Marina, comes from. That backing showed up on the pitch soon enough. Runners-up in the Tercera División in 2017-18, the club took the Serie B promotion spot anyway once Acatlán F.C., the team that beat them in the final, failed to meet the infrastructure requirements for the step up.

The following season Cañoneros Marina won Liga Premier Serie B outright, beating Deportivo CAFESSA 3-2 on aggregate to go up to Serie A. The Navy pulled its funding in 2021, and the club folded it back in. Three thousand five hundred people fit into Estadio Momoxco.

On and off, because in 2024 the club packed up for Xalapa, in Veracruz, picking up a new rival in Racing de Veracruz along the way, before the return trip to Milpa Alta in 2026. The older grudges, against Petroleros de Poza Rica and against Acatlán, belong to the years before the move. Since that Navy-funded run to Serie A, Cañoneros Marina has not managed another promotion, and these days there is no official website or social media account carrying its name.
