Héroes de Zaci

Los Heroicos have never had a fixture that carried weight beyond the table, which fits a club that has spent most of its existence proving itself to a division rather than to a neighbour. The name gives away the origin: it was formed in April 2015 in Valladolid, Yucatán, and it kept the reference to Zací, the old name for that city. Nuevo Laredo is where the club plays now, at the Unidad Deportiva Benito Juárez, a ground that holds 5,000.

The club has built its identity almost entirely on the Tercera División, now branded Liga TDP, where it has been champion twice. The first title came in 2018–19, against Atlético San Francisco. The second arrived in 2024–25, with a 2–0 win over Guerreros de Autlán. Isaac Arias owns the club, and Enrique Garza has been the one directing it on the touchline through this run.

That run has not gone unblemished. In 2026 the club was drawn into a match-fixing case tied to illegal betting, and several players were let go as a result.
