Artesanos Metepec

The Unidad Deportiva Alarcón Hisojo holds just two thousand people, and everyone in Metepec knows it instead by its old name, La Hortaliza — a ground about the size Artesanos Metepec have needed for most of their short life.

The club takes its name from what the town has been known for far longer than football: the potters of Metepec, whose clay nativity scenes are sold well beyond the State of Mexico. The Metepec City Council and a group of local businessmen put the side together in August 2022 to give the town a team of its own, settled on purple and white.

Growth came fast. In 2025-26 they went up again, beating FC Racing 3-2 on aggregate to take the Liga Premier Serie B and reach Serie A. Locally the rivalry that matters is with Deportivo Metepec, the other club sharing the municipality.
