Liga Premier Serie B (Mexico) 2026/27

The Liga Premier B operates as the third tier of the Mexican football pyramid, sitting below Liga MX and Liga de Expansión MX. Governed by the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF), the competition traces its origins to 1950 when it began as the Segunda División de México. It held the status of the second division until 1994, when the introduction of Ascenso MX moved it down a level. In 2017, the governing body rebranded the league as the Liga Premier and divided it into Serie A and Serie B. The latter was created specifically for developing clubs and reserve teams with limited infrastructure. For the 2026–27 campaign, the league features ten clubs in a single national group: Atlético Hidalgo, Ayense, Celaya B, Cruz Azul Lagunas, Gorilas, Héroes B, Huracanes Izcalli, Internacional Laguna, Irapuato B, and Racing de Veracruz B. The regular season follows a round-robin format within this single group. The champion is determined by a knockout playoff involving the top four teams. Promotion is granted to the champion of Liga Premier B, who ascends to Liga Premier A, provided they meet FMF infrastructure and financial certification requirements. Relegation exists, with the last-place team dropping to the Liga TDP, though this rule has been suspended in past seasons due to restructuring. The most successful clubs in the history of this specific division are Correcaminos B and Aguacateros CDU, each with three titles. Correcaminos B won in Apertura 2009, Apertura 2015, and Apertura 2016. Aguacateros CDU won in Apertura 2021, Clausura 2022, and the 2023–24 season. The most recent champion is CF Santiago, which won the Clausura 2025 title by defeating Pachuca Premier, securing a back-to-back title after winning Apertura 2024. Other notable winners include Yalmakan FC, Albinegros de Orizaba, Cañoneros Marina, and Alebrijes "B".
