EC São Bernardo U20

São Bernardo's Sub-20 side spent the 2025 season in the state's top junior division and closed it without a trophy. The last time the age group finished on top was 2011, when it won the Campeonato Paulista Sub-20 da Segunda Divisão, beating Jabaquara AC in the final.

The club above that team was formed on 3 February 1928, when Nerino Colli, Vicente Ragghianti, Itagiba de Almeida and Dante Setti set up Esporte Clube São Bernardo as successor to Associação Atlética São Bernardo, which had folded six years earlier. No football club in the ABC region has been running longer, and the old nickname Vovô do ABC — grandfather of the ABC — records that. The name people actually use, Cachorrão, comes from the club mascot, a Saint Bernard dog named after the city.

Home games belong to Estádio Ítalo Setti, known locally as Baetão, which the industrialist whose name it carries gave to the club in 1941. Part of the ground was seized in 1967 for a canal and an avenue, and professional football there went dark for a period afterward. It now holds 6,315; for bigger occasions the club shifts instead to the municipal Primeirão.

The senior side has driven the recent momentum: the Série D title in 2022 took it up to Série C, and fourth place there in 2025 pushed it into Série B. In 2023 the club restructured into a SAF, becoming Esporte Clube São Bernardo S.A.

The rivalry that matters now runs against a name close enough to cause confusion: São Bernardo Futebol Clube, the Tigre do ABC, founded in 2004 by a group of local politicians and run today by Grupo Magnum. Same city, two clubs, and neither is letting the other forget it.
